I teach :-
A more gental approach to Postures (Asana’s), using the out breath (Shakti) to gently open up the body,sometimes staying in a particular posture for some time to allow the fascia and muscles to release.
Influenced by Jivamukti, Anusara and Ashtanga Vinyasa systems.
These classes are Dynamic and Yang in nature, linking breath (Pranayama) with movement,flowing into and out of Postures (Asana’s). In essence a moving meditation utilising;
Ujjayi breath (A powerful form of Pranayama) to help create an internal heat (Agni) that helps purify the mind and body.
Modern restorative yoga is derived from a yoga style that was invented by B.K.S. Iyengar
It utilises props to ensure that the body is fully relaxed and be in a state of para sypathetic nervious system mode (rest and digest)
Qi Gong (Chi Kung):
‘The Art of cultivating Qi’
Qi or Chi is the vital life force of the Universe and this primordial or Heavenly Qi affects the Moon and Earth.
All Earth life is affected by Heavenly and Earthly Qi.
I teach a medical style of Hua Gong,which focuses on cultivating Qi into the lower Dantian (The bodies battery) and then circulating it around the whole body in a fluid systematic way.
This is based on the principals of The Small (Internal) and Large (External) Heavenly Circles (Microcosm/Macrocosm).
Please get in touch for more info and to discuss which style may be of the most benefit to you. One can always start with a more gentle class and when you have built a solid foundation try more challenging yang energy classes.
